How to record your screen with Loom?
How to screen record using the Loom Chrome extension
- 1. Open the Loom Chrome extension
Install the Loom Chrome extension here. Please keep in mind the Loom Chrome extension does not have the draw tool, virtual backgrounds, or HD recording. Those features are only available on the Loom desktop app.
- 2. Choose what to capture
Select “Screen Only” to record just your screen, or “Screen and Camera” to record your screen and camera.
- 3. Start recording
Once you’re set, click “Start Recording”. After a 3 second countdown, your recording will begin.
- 4. Stop recording
To end the recording, click the square red button on the menu in the lower-left corner of your screen.
- 5. Edit and share
A link to your video will be copied to your clipboard and your video will open in your browser where you can view, edit, and share. Learn more about recording with the Loom Chrome extension.
How to screen record using the Loom for Android app?
- 1. Open the Loom app
Once you’re in the app, click the Loom icon in the lower-right hand corner of the screen.
- 2. Choose what you want to capture
Select “Screen” to record just your screen, or “Screen + Cam” to record your screen and camera.
- 3. Grant app permissions
You'll be prompted to grant permissions to record audio and video, display over other apps, and screen cast. You will need to grant them all before starting either type of recording.
- 4. Start recording
After a 3 second countdown, your recording will begin. You can see your recording progress in your Notifications.
- 5. Stop recording
Hit the red stop button in your Notifications to end the recording.
- 6. Edit and share
Once you're done recording, you can add a title to your video and choose how you want to share it. Learn more about recording with Loom for Android.
How to screen record using the Loom for iOS app?
- 1. Open the Loom app
Tap the Loom icon in the bottom menu bar. Choose “Screen” then “Record screen”. If you want to capture audio make sure that the microphone is on.
- 2. Start recording
Tap “Start Broadcast” to start your screen recording. The red bar at the top of your screen indicates that you're recording.
- 3. Stop recording
To end your recording, tap the red bar at the top of your screen or return to the app and click “stop recording”. You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to stop recording.
- 4. Edit and share
Once you finish recording, you’ll be taken to a preview of your video where you can edit the title and copy the link to share. Open your “Videos” tab to see it. Learn more about recording with Loom for iOS.
