It explains how state channels reduce cost and latency by compressing many API calls into two on-chain transactions, opening and closing the channel, while agents sign cumulative off-chain IOUs. The gateway settles the final IOU on-chain, verifies the agent ED25519 signature, pays the provider, and refunds the remainder to the agent, with a safety mechanism that lets agents reclaim funds if the gateway crashes after some time.
