I switched the symbols to 4up, turned the threads on, then copied the technical sketch linearts into the thread technical sketch layers for primary fronts and backs. I fixed the white threads by expanding strokes to remove brush limits, ungrouping and deleting an extra line, then setting the correct thread color.
