In this workshop, we explore how to make the target language genuinely understandable through gestures, visuals, modelling, repetition, simplification, examples, pacing, intonation and positive reinforcement. We also look at the less obvious ways students show they do not understand — from silence and frustration to guessing or simply pretending everything is clear. The central idea is simple: the goal is not just for us to speak the target language. It is to give students the confidence to use it themselves — in the classroom and, most importantly, in real life.
