Because middle schools are not yet in final forms, they will need to add their sports to the system first, similar to how high schools were added in the NFHS survey process. The athletic director or any system admin should go to manage, then sports, use the blue new sport tool, and enter gender, season, and grades, plus registration start and end dates (currently can be set to today and the next day). Mark the sport as official and reporting to VPA, then create the sport.
